The accident occurred on August 8, at about 10:45 a.m., in the village of Berehy, Sambir district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, a tractor Belarus, driven by a 25-year-old resident of a village in the district, collided with a bicycle driven by a 76-year-old local resident.
The elderly cyclist died at the scene from the injuries sustained in the accident.
Investigators of the Department for Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the Rules of Road Safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
