The road accident occurred on 27 May, around 12.15pm, on the Lviv-Sambir-Uzhhorod motorway near the village of Verkhniy Luzhok, Sambir district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that a Honda motorcycle driven by a 39-year-old resident of a village in Drohobych district collided with a Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 37-year-old resident of a village in Sambir district.
The motorcyclist died on the spot from the injuries sustained in the accident.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
