47-year-old man from Sambir district to stand trial for dealing PVP psychotropic substance

An indictment has been submitted to court against a 47-year-old resident of Sambir district, who is accused of the unlawful acquisition, possession and sale of the particularly dangerous psychotropic substance PVP. This was reported by the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, at the beginning of May this year the man unlawfully acquired the psychotropic substance PVP and kept it with the intention of further sale. Later, while at a public transport stop in one of the localities of Sambir district, he handed a buyer a packet containing PVP and received 500 hryvnias for it.

In June, according to the prosecution, the man again sold the psychotropic substance to another buyer. This time the sale took place on a railway platform, where he received 1,000 hryvnias.

In addition, at the end of June the accused, according to the case file, again unlawfully acquired, by way of finding, a foil-wrapped packet containing a crystalline substance. During the examination of the scene, law enforcement officers seized this packet from him, as well as three pipes for consumption bearing traces of the substance. An expert examination confirmed that the items seized were the particularly dangerous psychotropic substance PVP.

The man is charged with the unlawful acquisition and possession for the purpose of sale, and unlawful sale, of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances, committed repeatedly, as well as the unlawful acquisition and possession of psychotropic substances without intent to sell, under Part 2 of Article 307 and Part 1 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Sambir District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.

Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
