On 15 October at around 15:15, a fatal road traffic collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian occurred between the villages of Deshychi and Chyzhky in Sambir district.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement officers, the driver of a DAF lorry, a 47-year-old resident of Sambir, ran into a 39-year-old pedestrian, a resident of Sambir district. The man died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators from the Transport Crime Investigation Division of the Lviv Region Police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles.
The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with disqualification from driving for up to three years or without such disqualification. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
