In the Lviv region, police have detained a motorcyclist who, under the influence of alcohol, caused a traffic accident.
The road accident occurred on August 24, around 2:00 AM in the village of Butyny, Sheptytskyi district. As preliminarily established by law enforcement, the driver of the Shineray VXR 300 motorcycle, a 25-year-old district resident, lost control of the vehicle and hit a power pole. As a result, the motorcycle passenger, a 21-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district, sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
It was established that the motorcycle driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and shortly the court will choose a preventive measure for him.
Based on the incident, investigators from police station No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi district police department have opened a criminal case under part 1 of Article 286-1 (\”Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transportation by a person driving a vehicle under the influence\”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period from three to five years. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the event.
