Suspect Arrested for Woman’s Murder in Lviv Region

In the Lviv region, police have detained a man on suspicion of murdering his cohabitant.

Law enforcement officers established that in the city of Sheptytsky, a 46-year-old man strangled his 45-year-old cohabitant during a domestic conflict. **For the crime committed, he faces punishment** – imprisonment for up to fifteen years.

A report about a woman’s lifeless body discovered in an apartment on Stepan Bandera Street in the city of Sheptytsky was received by the police on October 20. An investigative team was working at the scene, as well as forensic experts and officers from other services of the Sheptytsky District Police Department. The examination revealed strangulation marks on the body, which was the cause of death.

Through conducted measures, it was established that the deceased’s cohabitant was involved in the murder. Police located the suspect and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office, have informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1, Article 115 (Premeditated Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for punishment – imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years. The pre-trial investigation continues, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
