
On the Kyiv–Chop motorway near the town of Skole in the Stryi district, a fatal road traffic collision occurred in which the driver of a VAZ car was killed. The Lviv region police reported this.
The crash happened on 15 July at around 11:50. According to preliminary police findings, a VAZ 21112 car and a Ford Tourneo Connect minivan collided.
As a result of the collision, the 74-year-old VAZ driver, a resident of Skole, sustained bodily injuries from which he died at the scene.
Investigators from the transport crime investigation unit of the investigative department of the Lviv region police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles.
The sanction under this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with disqualification from driving for up to three years or without such disqualification. A pre-trial investigation is under way, and law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
