Man Sentenced for Evading Military Service During Mobilization
Under the public prosecution of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, a man was found guilty of evading conscription for military service during mobilization (Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Sentence and Case Circumstances
He was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment. Prosecutors proved in court that in August 2023, the accused was deemed fit for military service, confirmed by the military medical commission’s conclusion. The man received a summons which he signed personally, indicating the date to appear at the territorial recruitment and social support center.
However, on the specified date, he failed to appear at the center without valid reasons. Thus, the conscript violated current legislation and evaded military conscription.
Investigation and Verdict
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region. The court’s verdict will come into force after the expiry of the appeal period.
