
Illegal extraction of sand-gravel raw materials was uncovered in the Stryi region, and the company’s director has been notified of suspicion.
The volume of illegally extracted minerals amounts to almost 62 cubic meters. The suspect faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to six years. The offender was uncovered by operatives of the criminal police and investigators of police departmental unit No.3 of the Stryi district police department, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office.
As established by law enforcement officers, the 52-year-old director of a private enterprise instructed subordinates to illegally extract sand-gravel raw materials outside the boundaries of the land parcel specified by a special permit to use subsoil resources. Consequently, from May 2023 to March 2025, the enterprise illegally extracted almost 62 cubic meters of minerals. The damage caused to the state amounts to nearly 100,000 hryvnias.
The offender has been notified of suspicion in committing a criminal offense under part 3 of article 240 (Violation of rules for the protection or use of subsoil resources, illegal extraction of minerals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to six years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
