In Stryi Region, an Elderly Couple Nearly Perished in a Fire

In the morning in the Stryi region, an elderly couple nearly perished in their own home. On February 25 at 10:12 AM, the Rescue Service received a report of a fire in a one-story residential house with an attic on Vuzka Street in the city of Mykolaiv, Stryi district. This was reported by LVIVDSNS.

Fire and rescue units arrived within minutes. Before their arrival, the owners’ son managed to carry his father and mother out of the smoke-filled house into the fresh air. The condition of the 85-year-old man was critical, so the rescuers began cardiopulmonary resuscitation and maintained vital functions until the arrival of medical personnel.

Rescuers acted simultaneously: while some conducted resuscitation measures, others began extinguishing the fire — thick smoke was billowing from the roof of the house. The fire’s focal point was in the attic space: wooden flooring was burning over an area of 15 square meters, along with household items over another 15 square meters. There was a threat of the fire spreading to a neighboring residential building and an outbuilding.
