Prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office have referred to the court an indictment against a 40-year-old resident of Cherkasy region who illegally sold firearms and ammunition.
The investigation established that between July and September this year, the man sold a Kalashnikov assault rifle ‘AK-74’, over 380 rounds of ammunition, and 2 combat grenades. He allegedly looked for buyers on a specialized internet forum, where he also arranged the sale terms, payment methods, and the delivery of the ‘goods’. The weapons and ammunition were sent by mail after partial or full payment. The funds were received both via postal transfers in his name and on his mother’s bank card.
It was documented that the man sent three parcels containing weapons and ammunition to a resident of Novy Rozdil. Overall, his profit from the sale of weapons and ammunition amounted to nearly 65 thousand UAH. In addition, during searches at the ‘seller’s’ residence, a pistol, about 120 bullets, parts for the Kalashnikov rifle, cash, and other evidence were discovered and confiscated.
He is charged with the illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of firearms, ammunition, and explosive substances without the required legal permission (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation was conducted by Police Department No. 2 of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support from officers of Police Department No. 2 of the Stryi RUP and the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
