Near Stryi on 20 June at around 16:50 a freight train fatally injured a man. This was reported by law enforcement agencies.
According to preliminary data, the freight train hit a 19-year-old resident of Stryi who was lying on the railway track. The man died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of safety rules for traffic or operation of rail, water or air transport.
The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years. Police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
