Pedestrian killed by Renault in Lviv region – police establish circumstances
The road accident occurred on 22 September at about 18.00 on the Kyiv – Chop motorway near the village of Duliby, Stryi district.
As law enforcement officers have previously established, the driver of a Renault Kangoo, a 21-year-old resident of Stryi, hit a pedestrian, a 75-year-old resident of a village in the district, who was crossing the roadway in the wrong place. The man died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Region Police Investigation Department opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
