Police in Lviv region are looking for a driver who fatally hit a pedestrian and fled the scene
Anyone who has any information that can help establish the circumstances of the accident should call 102 or the nearest police station.
The accident occurred on March 20 at night in the village of Vovchatychi, Stryi district. As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, an unknown driver of an unidentified car hit a 68-year-old local resident and fled the scene.
As a result of the accident, the elderly man died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
A range of operational and investigative measures are being taken to identify the driver who committed the accident and the location of the car.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
