
In one of the villages of Stryi district, during a conflict, a 27-year-old local resident inflicted multiple blows to the head of a 47-year-old acquaintance. The victim sustained severe injuries and soon died in hospital. This was reported by the Stryi District Police Department.
Information about the hospitalisation of a man in a helpless condition with bodily injuries was received by the police on 30 June at around midnight. According to medics, passers-by found him on a street in one of the district’s villages. Doctors diagnosed, in particular, a severe traumatic brain injury and a severe brain contusion. The man died in intensive care from the injuries he had sustained.
Law enforcement officers established that the day before, on 29 June at around 22:00, a sudden conflict arose between local residents aged 27 and 47. During the incident, the younger participant in the fight inflicted multiple blows with his hands to the head of the older man, causing serious injuries.
Officers of Police Station No.2 of the Stryi District Police Department established the whereabouts of the suspect and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, notified the man that he is suspected of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional grievous bodily harm).
The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and a decision is being made on the choice of a preventive measure for the suspect.
