In the Stryi district, police officers tracked down a stolen Seat Ibiza and detained a man involved in its unlawful seizure. A pre-trial investigation is under way in relation to this incident.
According to the Stryi District Police Department, on 23 June at around 15:00, a 22-year-old Lviv resident contacted law enforcement officers. He reported that an unidentified person had taken possession of his Seat Ibiza, which had been parked near a shop in one of the villages of the Stryi district.
Criminal police operatives, investigators, patrol police response crews and officers from other units of the district department were involved in the search for the vehicle. As a result of the measures carried out, law enforcement officers located the car and detained the offender under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The detainee turned out to be a 43-year-old resident of Dnipropetrovsk region. Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unlawful seizure of a vehicle). The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years, with confiscation of property or without it.
