The Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv has proven in court the guilt of two 46-year-old local residents involved in a car arson incident that resulted in the destruction of multiple vehicles in the Sykhiv district.
Taking into account their prior criminal records, the court sentenced the men to 6 and 7 years of imprisonment respectively.
The court established that in May 2024, the offenders arrived at the courtyard of an apartment building where residents’ cars were parked. Due to a personal conflict with the owner of one vehicle, they poured a flammable substance on the car and set it on fire. After making sure the vehicle was burning, they fled the scene.
The fire later spread to nearby cars parked close to the initial target.
As a result:
- three vehicles were completely destroyed by fire;
- one additional car was severely damaged.
The total material damage caused to the victims amounts to nearly 1.2 million UAH.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Directorate No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region. The court verdict will enter into force after the expiration of the appeal period.
