Fatal road accident occurred on 12 August at around 21:20 on the Lviv–Lutsk highway near the village of Tartak in the Sheptytskyi district.
According to preliminary police reports, the 37-year-old driver of a Renault Megan hit a pedestrian, a 62-year-old resident of the Lviv district.
As a result of the injuries sustained, the pedestrian died at the scene.
Investigators from the Transport Crime Investigation Division of the Lviv Region Police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles). The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with a possible driving ban for up to three years or without such a ban.
The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
