
On the M-09 Ternopil — Lviv — Rava-Ruska motorway at night, patrol police officers stopped the driver of a Dacia Sandero who had violated the Highway Code.
While checking the 41-year-old driver, the inspectors noticed signs of alcohol intoxication. A test on a Drager device showed 4.57‰, which is almost 23 times higher than the permitted blood alcohol limit for drivers.
The man was issued with a fixed penalty notice for breaching legislation on the use of vehicle registration plates and a report was filed for driving under the influence. The driver was disqualified from driving the vehicle.
According to the police, over the first eight months of this year, 4,606 reports have been filed in the region for driving vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.
