On Khotynska Street in Lviv, two men set fire to the front door and fled

The two Lviv residents, aged 27 and 37, face imprisonment for up to ten years for their actions.

According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on 26 November at around five in the morning. The two offenders brought rags and a bottle with a flammable substance, set fire to the front door of an apartment on the third floor of a high-rise building on Khotynska Street and fled.

Neighbours saw the fire, extinguished it and reported the incident to the 102 hotline. Fortunately, the fire damaged only the door.

Criminal police operatives and investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 and officers of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police were involved in solving the crime. The law enforcers established the location of the arsonists and detained them in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The material evidence was seized from them.

The detainees were identified as two residents of Lviv aged 27 and 37.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, served them a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 194 (Intentional destruction or damage to property by arson) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to ten years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
