Police detain offender who fired at Audi car in Lviv region
Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting, but the car was damaged. The 37-year-old detainee faces up to seven years in prison for his crime.
According to law enforcement officers, on 4 December at about 14.00 on the road in one of the villages of Yavoriv district, the offender fired several shots from a pistol, hitting an Audi driven by a resident of a neighbouring village aged 48. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, only the car sustained technical damage.
Criminal police operatives, investigators, inspectors of the Patrol Police Response Sector and a community police officer of the Yavoriv District Police Department were involved in solving the crime.
The law enforcement identified the offender, a 37-year-old local resident, and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. At the time of the crime, the detainee was intoxicated. An object resembling a PM pistol with ammunition was also seized from him and sent for expert examination to the Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Lviv region.
Investigators of the territorial police unit served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing criminal offences under Part 4 of Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty under these articles is up to seven years in prison.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officers are establishing the origin of the weapons.
