In one of the villages of the Yavoriv district, during a night-time altercation, a 34-year-old local resident seriously injured a 28-year-old man, who was later taken to hospital. This was reported by the Yavoriv District Police Department.
The incident occurred on 7 June at around 00:30. The police received a report that a man had been beaten. Operatives from the criminal police, investigators and officers from other units of Police Station No.1 of the Yavoriv District Police Department attended the scene.
According to preliminary information, a sudden conflict broke out between two district residents aged 28 and 34. During the incident, the older man struck the younger one in the face with his hand, causing him serious bodily injuries, including multiple fractures of the facial bones and a skull base fracture. The victim was taken to hospital.
Law enforcement officers detained the 34-year-old man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s office, investigators notified him that he is suspected under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional infliction of serious bodily injury).
The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
