A group involved in the illegal smuggling of men to Romania has been uncovered in Zakarpattia.
According to the investigation, a company commander, along with a subordinate and two civilian accomplices, found individuals willing to illegally leave Ukraine. To execute this plan, they dressed the men in military uniforms and transported them in a service vehicle through the territory of Zakarpattia, escorting them to the border zone. The cost of this ‘service’ was 10,000 US dollars per person. The money was handed over by relatives after the men called from abroad to confirm successful smuggling.
Law enforcement detained four suspects near the Romanian border while attempting to illegally smuggle two conscripts. Under the procedural guidance of the Zakarpattia Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Western Defense Region, the accomplices have been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and preventive measures have been chosen.
