An illegal scheme for smuggling military conscripts across the border has been uncovered in Zakarpattia.
According to the investigation, a 34-year-old resident of Mukachevo was seeking individuals wishing to avoid mobilization. He offered them illegal border crossing to Hungary for 10,000 USD per person. The crossing was to occur outside official checkpoints.
Moreover, he attempted to involve a service member of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine by offering him money for the unobstructed transfer of four clients and providing information on a safe route.
However, the border guard immediately reported the bribery attempt and acted within the control of law enforcement agencies.
During the transfer of part of the bribe amounting to over 4,000 USD, the suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He has been charged and a preventive measure has been chosen.
The procedural management is carried out by the Zakarpattia Special Prosecutor’s Office in the Defense Sphere of the Western Region.
