In Zolochiv district, a drunk driver caused an accident that injured two people
The detainee faces imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
The road accident occurred on 21 July, at around 11.30 am, in the village of Korsiv, Zolochiv district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Lifan CCR 150 motorcycle, a 30-year-old resident of a village in the district, lost control and drove into a wooden fence.
As a result of the accident, the motorcycle driver and his passenger, a 26-year-old resident of Zolochiv district, were injured and hospitalised.
It was established that the motorcycle driver was driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
