The traffic accident occurred on August 2, around 1:00 p.m., between the villages of Stovpin and Bolozhyniv of the Zolochiv district.
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the BMW 320D car, a 37-year-old resident of Zolochiv district, lost control, drove into a ditch and crashed into a tree.
The passenger of the car, a 37-year-old resident of the district, died at the scene of the injuries sustained as a result of the accident. The driver of the car was injured and hospitalized.
It was established that the driver was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He is detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.
According to the fact, the investigators of the department of investigation of crimes in the field of transport of the police of Lviv region opened criminal proceedings under part 3 of article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons who drive vehicles in a state of intoxication, which caused the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation continues, law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
