The road accident occurred on 16 October, around 21.20, in the village of Hai, Zolochiv district. As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, an unknown driver of an unidentified car hit a cyclist, a 56-year-old resident of one of the villages in the district, and fled the scene.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the two-wheeler was injured and hospitalised.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
A number of operational and investigative measures are being taken to identify the driver who committed the accident and locate the car.
