As the criminal police operatives, together with investigators and a district police officer of the Zolochiv District Police Department, found, a 23-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district was selling cannabis.
The police documented the facts of the suspect’s sale of prohibited substances and detained him in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During an authorized search in the detainee’s apartment, the SBU found and seized: rolls with a substance similar to cannabis (partially packaged), electronic scales, cash, as well as other material evidence of his involvement in illegal activities. The value of the seized goods at black market prices is over UAH 100 thousand.
All seized items were sent for examination to the Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Lviv region.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is ongoing. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of six to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
