The traffic accident happened on July 20 at around 7:45 a.m. on the Ternopil-Lviv-Rava-Ruska highway, near the village of Strutyn, Zolochiv District.
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the “Man” truck, a 28-year-old resident of the Ternopil region, ran over a cyclist, a 72-year-old resident of the region, who died of his injuries at the scene.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
