In the Zolochiv district, the acting director of a municipal institution of one of the settlement councils is suspected of causing losses to the territorial community amounting to 376,200 hryvnias. This was reported by law enforcement agencies of the Lviv region.
According to preliminary investigation data, in 2021 a 68-year-old resident of the district, who was temporarily heading the municipal institution, during a tender process rejected a more advantageous offer from one of the bidders and selected as the winner another private enterprise with a higher price offer.
After this, a contract was concluded between the municipal institution and the selected enterprise for the purchase of a boiler for the institution. At the same time, the equipment was in fact not delivered, and the boiler acceptance-transfer certificate was not signed by the parties.
As a result of these actions, according to law enforcement officers, the territorial community suffered losses totalling 376,200 hryvnias. The individual involved was exposed by criminal police operatives and investigators of the Zolochiv District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office and with the participation of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Investigators informed the man that he is suspected of committing criminal offences under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position) and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery in office). The maximum penalty under these articles is imprisonment for up to six years with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the final decision in the case will be made by the court.
