Head of village post office accused of misappropriating residents’ funds to be tried in Lviv region
As established by the Zolochiv District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, a 47-year-old resident of a village in Zolochiv district, head of a post office, embezzled funds from more than 30 citizens in the total amount of over UAH 120,000.
The offender received money from postmen, which they received in cash from the villagers as payment for utilities, electricity, gas and other services.
However, the boss did not post the cash received to the cash register, but appropriated it and subsequently spent it on her own needs.
The police documented more than thirty such cases, which resulted in material damage to citizens totalling more than UAH 120,000.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 4 Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office) has been completed. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.
The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of five to eight years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
