Attempt to Illegally Cross Border in Rivne Region Uncovered
Operative officers from the 7th Border Carpathian Unit, together with operatives from the 9th Unit named after Sich Riflemen, uncovered a 16-year-old boy who transported two conscription-age men to the border area on a motorcycle. They intended to illegally enter an EU country.
Caught in the Act
The minor valued his services, as a transporter, at 12,000 USD for both men. The young boy and his passengers were caught by the border guards near the village of Vezhytsia in the Rivne region, in the act of receiving the money.
Legal Consequences
The perpetrator has been charged with a crime under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, “Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine.” The vehicle and other items that may confirm illegal actions have been confiscated. Measures regarding a preventive measure for him are being considered. The circle of persons involved in the illegal activities is being determined.
The activities were conducted jointly with employees of the National Police in the Rivne region, under the procedural guidance of the Sarny District Prosecutor’s Office.
