In Turka, police detained a driver who hit a pedestrian while being intoxicated
An elderly woman was injured in the accident.
The road accident occurred on 12 September, around 15.00, on Molodizhna Street in Turka, Sambir district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of an Avia A-31, a 58-year-old resident of a village in the district, hit a pedestrian, a 64-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the elderly woman was injured and hospitalised.
It was established that the driver was driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Sambir District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
