Intoxicated Driver Initiates Chase with Patrol Officers

An intoxicated driver of a Ford Fiesta initiated a chase with patrol officers during curfew hours.

Recently, during curfew hours, patrol officers noticed a Ford Fiesta whose driver initially crossed an intersection on Naukovyi Street and then suddenly began to reverse. The officers signaled the driver to stop. The 27-year-old driver ignored the police’s directive. The patrol immediately communicated the alert to other units and began a pursuit. Shortly thereafter, the offender was apprehended.

Patrol Officer: – You did not comply with the stop signal and I can smell alcohol from you. Driver: – This is due to the fact that I am just in a stressful situation.

During the interaction with the driver, officers noticed signs of alcohol intoxication. The man agreed to undergo an examination at a medical facility. The doctor’s conclusion confirmed intoxication at 1.04 permille.

The patrol officers charged the driver with: protocol under Part 1 of Article 130 (Driving a vehicle under the influence) of the Ukraine Code of Administrative Offenses; protocol under Article 122-2 (Failure to stop) of the Ukraine Code of Administrative Offenses; and issued a citation for failing to comply with a traffic sign requirement.

We would like to note that last month in Lviv, intoxicated driving led to 22 accidents resulting in injuries. This was fatal for 1 person and 29 others were injured. In fact, in September, police issued 798 protocols to drivers operating vehicles under the influence.

Do not endanger yourself and others! Alcohol and driving are incompatible!
