Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, six state inspectors of the “Horodok” customs post of Lviv Customs were exposed and notified of suspicion of abuse of official position, which caused serious consequences (Part 1, 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in July 2022, officials allowed 41 passenger cars into the territory of Ukraine, illegally issuing zero customs clearance for them.
The suspects entered inaccurate information about vehicles into the automated customs clearance system and unjustifiably applied tax-exempt benefits to them. Accordingly, this allowed car owners to cross the border without paying any customs fees.
As a result, mandatory customs payments for a total of about 5 million hryvnias were not paid to the state.
Investigations are ongoing.
Currently, the issue of selecting a preventive measure and removing him from his position is being resolved.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the State Criminal Investigation Department in the city of Lviv, with the assistance of the Department of Internal Security of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
