32-year-old and 59-year-old men were notified of suspicion under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkiv district prosecutor’s office. They are charged with intentional damage to electricity facilities (Part 2 of Article 194-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in July of this year, near one of the villages of the Lviv district, two local residents dismantled the metal corners of the electric pole. The latter served as crossbars in a metal structure.
Late in the evening, the men approached the electric pole through which the electric current was supplied, and with the help of socket wrenches, they removed 9 metal corners. As a result, the stability of the structure weakened. In the future, this led to the fall and destruction of electric power facilities and their work.
In connection with this, the supply of electricity was stopped for some time.
Investigative actions are ongoing, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the investigative police department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
