Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, a 67-year-old man was found guilty of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm that resulted in irreparable disfigurement of the face (Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Prosecutors proved that in August 2022, in one of the villages of Lviv district, the accused poured sulfuric acid on a woman.
On that day, the man met his former partner near a bus stop in the center of the village. During the conversation, a dispute arose between them, during which the defendant pulled out a plastic bottle of rust remover from a bag and began pouring it on the woman’s face, arms and legs.
As a result, the latter sustained severe bodily injuries in the form of irreparable disfigurement of her face.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
The court verdict will come into force after the expiration of the appeal period.
