The road accident occurred on 18 May, around 12.00, on the Eastern Approach to Lviv road between the village of Gamaliyivka and the city of Dubliany in Lviv district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, a Renault Sandero driven by a 69-year-old Kyiv resident and a Ford Mondeo driven by a 66-year-old Lviv resident collided.
As a result of the accident, the drivers of both vehicles and the passenger of the Renault Sandero, a 69-year-old Kyiv resident, were injured and taken to a medical facility. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of doctors, the woman died in hospital.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
