
In Lviv region, during the week from 15 to 19 June, law enforcement officers investigated a number of criminal offences, uncovered illicit enrichment schemes, and also organised training sessions and competitions for police officers and veterans. The information was published by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
On Monday, 15 June, in Lviv district, criminal proceedings were opened over bodily injuries inflicted on a 13-year-old boy. According to the police, a 22-year-old Lviv resident, during a sudden verbal altercation, threw a lighter at the child’s head, causing injury. Also, explosive ordnance disposal experts of the Lviv region police returned from another rotation in eastern Ukraine. The head of the technical and forensic support department, Nazar Hurman, noted that over the years of the full-scale war, the nature of threats has changed significantly due to technological developments. For police officers who have been displaced to Lviv region, a training session on restoring inner resources was held, organised by psychological support specialists.
On Tuesday, 16 June, in Lviv, police officers detained an offender who had brutally beaten his acquaintance. Operatives from the criminal police, investigators and staff of other units of Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Directorate No. 2 were involved in solving the crime. In Stryi district, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of corrupting a minor; he faces up to eight years in prison. In Stryi, a woman suspected of organising the illegal transfer of a man liable for military service across the border for 37,500 dollars was exposed. In addition, wounded law enforcement officers in Lviv region are preparing for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Archery Cup, organised by the State Institution “Territorial Medical Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Lviv Region” together with the regional police.
On Wednesday, 17 June, in Lviv region, a case against a group of serial thieves who had been watching car owners and stealing money from their vehicles was sent to court. The sanction of the article they are charged under provides for five to eight years of imprisonment. Law enforcement officers also uncovered a scheme for the unlawful acquisition of a land plot in the Carpathians worth almost 5 million hryvnias. An indictment has been drawn up against the person in whose ownership the plot was unlawfully transferred.
On Thursday, 18 June, the police shared the story of community police officer Oleh Khomyak, who took part in fierce fighting in the Toretsk sector, was wounded and returned to duty. The police captain has been serving for more than sixteen years. On the same day, law enforcement officers notified a 54-year-old resident of Sheptytskyi district that he was suspected of the brutal killing of a dog by hanging, for which he faces up to eight years in prison. In Lviv, police officers detained a man who, according to the investigation, brutally beat an acquaintance and stole his hunting weapon. The offender was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the weapon was seized.
On Friday, 19 June, in Lviv, police veterans took part in the “Warriors’ Cup” shooting competition. They competed in exercise PP-1 – shooting with an air pistol at a distance of 10 metres. French volunteer Eric Sinké also conducted a session for Lviv region police staff on stress reduction and psychological recovery, during which participants learned techniques for working with muscle tension caused by prolonged stress, emotional strain and fatigue.
