Organisation of illegal border crossing as a co-driver for USD 7,000 – exposed
Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, a resident of Lviv was exposed and served a notice of suspicion of organising illegal trafficking of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect, by prior conspiracy with other unidentified persons, under martial law, assisted in the illegal transfer of a man liable for military service across the state border of Ukraine to the European Union.
In exchange for a monetary reward, he promised to provide the man with a package of documents on the basis of which the latter was allowed to leave Ukraine. On the basis of the above documents, the person liable for military service had the right to leave the country under the guise of a second driver of a vehicle.
The defendant estimated his services at USD 7,000.
He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine after receiving the agreed amount of money.
Investigative actions are ongoing, and the involvement of other persons in the crime is being checked.
The detainee was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Department of the National Police of the region with the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Secret Service of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
