Extras sold devices for silent shooting under the Ukrainian brand. The product did not meet technical standards: during its use, the accuracy of shooting deteriorated and even cases of rupture were recorded. Underground manufacturers did not pay attention to complaints from buyers. Similar complaints were received by the official manufacturer.
The organizer and the persons involved in the underground production were identified by the operatives of the strategic investigations department in the Lviv region together with the investigators of the regional police. The law enforcement officers established that in the territory of Lviv, the organizer and three of his accomplices had set up premises for the production of silencers for weapons, which were sold under the Ukrainian brand through online stores with incorrect product characteristics. We also established a sales network for the product to individuals and legal entities.
In the future, silencers found their way to the front, where their use during hostilities worsened the accuracy of shooting and even led to rupture. In the course of conducting operational measures, the police documented the facts of the sale of low-quality mufflers and in September of last year conducted authorized searches. Almost 200 mufflers of various types, components for them, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a car, almost 100,000 hryvnias and documents on money transfers were seized.

After carrying out a set of procedural measures and gathering evidence, the organizer, co-organizer and two accomplices were informed of suspicion under part 3 of Art. 177 (Infringement of rights to an invention, utility model, industrial design, topography of an integrated microcircuit, plant variety, innovative proposal) and part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The question of choosing preventive measures for the suspect is being resolved. Procedural management in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
