Starting today, patrol officers begin using TruCAM devices on 14 new sections of roads and streets in populated areas.
TruCAM is primarily used on the same areas where automatic violation detection cameras are already installed. This combined method provides a higher efficiency in controlling speed limit adherence. Usage locations have been determined considering the accident level — in accident-prone areas and locations with high concentration of accidents caused by speeding.
In regions where active combat operations continue, specifically in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the devices are temporarily not used. Meanwhile, in Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions, TruCAM is used on selected safe sections.
Taking into account the martial law and the conducted analysis of accident rates: 14 new sections have been added; changes have been made to 6 existing sections. In total, there will be 160 TruCAM devices operating on Ukrainian roads. Patrol officers will measure speed on 335 road sections.
Road signs warning of photo and video recording are installed in TruCAM usage areas. Patrol police cars with blue flashing lights will be in a visible location. Speeding is one of the most common causes of road accidents. Observing traffic rules saves lives.
