Pensioner from Solonka has fine for travelling with blocked LeoKart cancelled in court

Solonka resident Iryna Bazyliak has succeeded in having a fine overturned in court for travelling on a Lviv bus using a blocked concessionary LeoKart travel card.

The pensioner was fined 600 UAH while travelling on bus route No. 3A in Lviv. Inspection services deemed it an offence that she was exercising her right to free travel while her concessionary LeoKart card had been blocked on the basis of a decision by Lviv City Council.

Iryna Bazyliak challenged the penalty order in the Pustomyty District Court. Following consideration of the case, the court annulled the fine, closed the proceedings and ordered that 665.60 UAH in court fees be reimbursed to her. The judgment states that there is no proper evidence of her guilt.

The handling of this case has drawn attention to the practical consequences of decisions by Lviv City Council regarding concessionary travel and the blocking of concessionary cards for certain categories of passengers.
