Being in a drunken state, the man brutally beat the woman, causing injuries from which she died the next day in the hospital. The detainee faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.
As the employees of police department No. 2 of the Chervonograd district police department established, on the evening of October 18, a domestic conflict arose between a 35-year-old man and his 32-year-old wife, residents of the city of Sokal, during which the man inflicted numerous blows with his hands and feet on the head and in the other parts of the body, causing severe injuries.
At the time of the crime, the man was in a state of alcohol intoxication and, despite the fact that the injured wife was in a serious condition, he did not call medics to her. Her sister did this in the morning when she came to visit a relative.
Emergency doctors took the patient to the hospital, but despite all efforts, she died from her injuries. The woman was diagnosed with, in particular, polytrauma, chest injury, abdominal injury, multiple ulcers and intestinal rupture.
The police detained the perpetrator in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
