A contractor is suspected of embezzling over 1 million UAH during the construction of a clinic in the Skole region.
According to the investigation, funds were allocated from the regional budget in November 2020 for the construction of a clinic in one of the villages in the Skole district. According to the contract, the contractor company was obliged to perform the work. Based on the completed works, the director of the general contractor company inserted false information into the work completion acts and certified them with the company’s seal.
The official documents listed tasks that were not actually conducted, and the volume of materials used was inaccurate. Moreover, data was entered about the purchase and installation of equipment, including medical, which was actually absent. Subsequently, the director submitted the documents with false information to the Capital Construction Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
As a result, more than 1 million UAH was unjustifiably transferred to the contractor’s account. Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the company director has been notified of suspicion regarding embezzlement of another’s property through abuse of office and official document forgery (Part 5, Article 191, Part 1, Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Investigations into other individuals involved in the illegal activities are ongoing.
Pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support from the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region. Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
