A 22-year-old native of the Rivne region was informed of suspicion under the procedural guidance of the Galician district prosecutor’s office of the city of Lviv. He is accused of committing deliberate actions aimed at directly restricting rights based on gender, other beliefs, combined with violence (Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, at around 10 o’clock in the evening on August 15 this year, the suspect attacked a transgender person on one of the central streets of Lviv.
The stuntman verbally abused the victim, after which he punched and kicked her several times in the face.
The man started the fight on the grounds of discrimination based on gender identity.
Investigations are ongoing. The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
