The traffic accident occurred on March 16, around 00:30, on the Ternopil-Lviv-Rava-Ruska highway near the village of Kulikiv, Lviv district.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the DAF car, a 27-year-old resident of the Rivne region, hit a pedestrian, a 45-year-old local resident. The man died at the scene from injuries received as a result of the accident.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
