Near Lviv, the police detained an intruder on suspicion of kidnapping a man
The detainee, who demanded a thousand dollars for the release of the victim and threatened with violence, faces up to five years in prison.
On October 29, around 4:00 p.m., the 102 hotline received a report that in one of the villages near Lviv, unknown persons illegally deprived a 30-year-old Lviv resident of his liberty.
Operatives of the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Lviv Oblast Police, an investigative team and employees of other services of Police Department No. 3 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 immediately went to the scene of the incident.
As the law enforcement officers established, a 24-year-old man from Lviv is illegally detaining a 30-year-old resident of Lviv and demanding the return of a non-existent debt in the amount of one thousand US dollars. The victim’s friend, a 37-year-old man from Lviv, had to hand over the money to the attacker.
Soon the policemen, with the force support of the soldiers of the KORD of the police of the Lviv region, detained the attacker while handing him the money and released the victim.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Pustomytov district prosecutor’s office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 2 of article 146 (Illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping of a person) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – restriction of freedom for a term of up to five years or deprivation of liberty for the same term. Soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, and the involvement of other persons in the commission of this crime is also established.
