In a forest near Lviv, a 76 mm artillery shell dating back to the Second World War was discovered. On 31 August, explosive ordnance disposal experts from the Lviv Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine removed the dangerous item and destroyed it in the prescribed manner.
Rescuers stress that if you discover objects resembling explosive ordnance, you must not touch them, move them or attempt to neutralise them yourself. You should move away to a safe distance, warn others of the danger and immediately call 101 or 102.
The State Emergency Service warns that wartime munitions remain deadly dangerous even decades after they are discovered.
