A married couple from Yavoriv district will be tried for selling driver’s licenses on the Internet

На Львівщині судитимуть чоловіка і дружину, обвинувачених у шахрайстві

The offenders, who cheated people out of money by offering to buy driver’s licenses, were exposed by operatives of the Cybercrime Department in Lviv region jointly with investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to law enforcement officers, a 27-year-old man and his 24-year-old wife, residents of a village in Yavoriv district, posted an ad on the Internet offering to buy a driver’s license to anyone who wanted to buy one. However, after the “clients” transferred money to the criminals, they never contacted them again.

In addition, in order to conceal the origin of the proceeds of crime, the husband and wife used a bank card opened in the name of another person. And from this card they transferred money to their own accounts.

Law enforcement officers documented four facts of the couple’s illegal activity: two of their “clients” lost UAH 4 thousand each, and two more lost UAH 5 thousand each.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 2 Article 209 (Legalization (laundering) of the proceeds of crime) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictments have been submitted to the court for consideration.

The maximum penalty provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for up to twelve years with confiscation of property.
